On 05/11/15 at approx. 8pm Flint Police responded to the scene of a traffic crash at the intersection of Mabel and Minnesota. At that location was a vehicle that had been struck on the driver's side. There were 5 occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Two of the occupants, a 12 year old boy and an 8 year old boy, were ejected from the vehicle. Four people from this vehicle were injured, one critically. A second vehicle, which is believed to have disregarding a stop sign at a high rate of speed, had left the scene but was located near Levern and Churchill by a Genesee County Sheriff's Deputy. That driver was arrested and also received medical attention.
The 12 year old boy, Nikko Germani, died yesterday evening.
Charges were issued yesterday against the driver of the second vehicle. Matthew Marshall (26) was arraigned on those charges today, two counts of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury, two counts of Operating - License Suspended, Revoked, Denied - Causing Serious Injury and two counts of Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death.
The charges against Marshall are expected to be amended as a result of the death of Nikko Germani.
