On August 8, 2014, Flint Police Officers responded to a call for shots fired in the 500 block of South Meade Street in the city of Flint. Officers discovered a 79 year old male later identified as Jimmie Allison deceased in his home, a victim of an apparent gunshot wound. Within hours, detectives arrested three subjects in connection with this crime. On August 12, 2014, all three subjects were formally charged in Michigan's 68th District Court with Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Home Invasion in the First Degree and being in possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. A press conference is being held at the Flint Police Department later today to provide further details.

Officer Matteson was recognized by M.A.D.D. for his dedication and effort to help eliminate drunk driving. Officer Matteson led the Flint Police Department in drunk driving arrests in 2013, in addition to his other work in the community.
