We are proud to announce that the Flint PAL (Police Activities Leauge) football team are returning from Dallas Texas as the 2015 Champions in the Football Championship Series national tournament. Congratulations team!


On 12/29/15 Flint Police responded to the Glendale Hills Subdivision for a residential burglary. Responding officers learned that this was the second Burglary in 3 days to this address.
The initial investigation led officers to a nearby address. While checking the area for video surveillance to ID possible suspects, officers maintained visual surveillance of the possible suspect location. A vehicle which matched the description given by neighbors of a vehicle that had been seen in the area arrived at the possible suspect location. Officers stopped this vehicle which had two occupants. Both subjects were on felony probation through 7th Circuit Court and arrested on unrelated charges. Detectives are continuing the investigation to determine if these persons of interest can be connected to this Burglary and others in the area. On 12/14/15 at approx. 1:30 am Flint Police responded to the area of Saginaw/Pierson for a shooting. The victim reported that he had been shot by a male who was driving a vehicle that was also occupied by a female. The vehicle information was broadcast over police radio and a Genesee County Sheriff Dept Sergeant stopped a vehicle matching the description. A handgun was recovered and a suspect was arrested. Christopher Henderson has now been charged and arraigned in this case for Assault with Intent to Murder, Discharge of a Firearm from Vehicle, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

On 12/01/15 at approx. 9pm Flint Police responded to the 2100 blk. Stedron where Frederick Criss (46) was found deceased in a vehicle from a stab wound. The investigation led to the arrest of four suspects. One suspect, Demarco Baker (28), has now been charged and arraigned for 2nd Degree Murder. The other three suspects, Darian Mitchell (40), Alan Baker (46) and Ramon Vasquez (41), have each been charged and arraigned with Accessory After the Fact.

Dear Chief James Tolbert,
I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the day before Thanksgiving. After waiting at the intersection for over four hours, Officer Matteson showed up on the scene smiling and apologizing for the long wait. It is hard to believe but Officer Matteson made the whole ordeal pleasant and expeditious and even FUN! He is truly a valuable asset to the Flint Police Dept. He comports himself with poise, professionalism, care and compassion as he serves and protects the people of Flint. UPDATE... James Edelen III (35) has been wanted for 1st Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and 2nd Offense Felony Firearm since September 2009 for the murder of Markus Arnold (34) on 09/27/09 in the 4100 blk. Clio Rd. James Edelen has now been arrested in Nevada and is expected to be extradited back to Michigan to face these charges.

WANTED... On 07/31/15 at approx. 1am Flint Police responded to a Robbery report from a male who reported that two subjects known to him assaulted and robbed him near Fenton and Atherton Rd. The victim suffered a broken arm as a result of the assault. Charges have been issued for two suspects, Joshua Kryger (28) and Stephanie Fisher (32), who are now WANTED for Unarmed Robbery. On 11/18/15 at approx. 12:20am Flint police and Michigan State Police responded to an alarm call at a business in the 100 blk. E. Flint Park. On 08/11/15 at approx. 1am Flint Police responded to the 2200 blk. Devon Lane for a shooting. The victim, Jarrett Kent (26), had been shot multiple times and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Charges have been issued for 3 people as a result of this investigation.

On 10/26/15 at approx. 0230 hrs. a woman reported to Flint Police that she was assaulted at gun point by 2 males in the area of Hamilton and Francis. Suspect descriptions were obtained and a short time later, Michigan State Police arrested 2 subjects in the area of Franklin and Maryland. Two handguns were also located and seized. These two subjects, Martize Evanish (25) and Cordario Colter (24), have now each been charged and arraigned for 2 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree, Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

On 10/04/15 at approx. 5am Flint Police responded to the area of Dupont and Jamieson in reference to a shooting. On scene the victim, Diamond Hodge (22), was found to be deceased. A suspect was arrested a few hours later. That suspect, Deantre Auston (27), has now been charged and arraigned in this case for 1st Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.


On 08/25/15 at approx. 1am Flint Police responded to the 1700 blk. of Polly for a shooting. On scene a man and a woman were found to be shot. The woman was in good condition but the male, Dewuan Bell (43), died as a result of his injuries. Larry Clemons III (29) has been arrested, charged and arraigned in this case for 1st Degree Murder, 2 counts of Armed Robbery, Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

On 10/03/15 Flint Police teamed up with other local police and fire departments as mentors for Pictures of Hope. Pictures of Hope is a national program that donates cameras to children allowing them to capture photographs that represent their hopes and dreams. The children's photographs will be used to create greeting cards and all proceeds from the sales of the cards created by Flint children go to Shelter of Flint.
Captain Golden teamed up with Flintstone Morris Peterson and took two of the children, whose dreams were to be doctors, to Hurley Medical Center. The children took photographs with their new cameras and a doctor spoke with them about their dream.

Flint Police Officer Matteson (right) received an award today from MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) for Outstanding Commitment against drunk driving. This was the second consecutive year that Ofc. Matteson has received this award. Congratulations Ofc. Matteson!


On 09/18/15 at approx. 11am Flint Police responded to the 900 blk. W. Patterson for a shooting. On scene police located two males who had been shot. Travis Galloway (27) was deceased and the second subject was in good condition. The second subject was arrested. 

Daryl Tibbs (23) has now been charged and arraigned in this case for 1st degree Murder, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm.

UPDATE.... Jeremiah Phifer (28) was arrested on 09/13/15 in the incident described below. He has now been charged and arraigned for Peace Officer - Disarming Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Assaulting, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer and Felony Firearm.
Previous post narrative....
Officers responded to the 600 blk of Barrie Ave, in reference to a man with a gun call. Upon arrival the suspect led officers on a foot chase and discarded the weapon in the process. Officers were able to get the man into custody and they recovered the gun as well. Good Job to Officers Summers, Essix, Edwards, Eads, and Sgt. Bigelow. Also a thank you to the other agencies that assisted. This subject will be facing several felony charges which are pending.

The Flint Police Department is proud to once again participate in the Flint Area Touch a Truck event. The event will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 11am - 3pm at the White Lot on the UofM Flint campus (corner of Saginaw and 5th Ave). There will be lots of cool trucks, police vehicles and a helicopter or two for kids of all ages to see. There will also be bounce houses, face painting, food, music, a child ID kit booth and more. The entire event is FREE! There are still a few spots available for big trucks or interesting vehicles. If you have a vehicle and would like to participate contact Kathy at (810) 762-3330.



On 9/24/98, 14 year old Coral Hall was reported as a runaway by her grandmother and legal guardian, Lois Janish. Over the course of the next eight years, several persons were interviewed and information was developed that people close to Coral suspected that she was not a runaway and possibly a victim of foul play. The police department conducted multiple interviews with Janish, each time she told a different version of the events surrounding the disappearance of Coral. The Flint Police Department conducted the first of six unsuccessful searches for Coral's remains in the summer of 2011. In the summer of 2013, enough evidence was collected to issue an arrest warrant for Lois Janish. She was arrested on July 31, 2013. Yesterday, Janish pled No Contest to Second Degree Murder in Michigan's 07th Circuit Court before Judge Farah. She is scheduled to be sentenced in early November, 2015. Coral's remains have not been recovered. On 12/23/12 Flint Police took a report of a CSC/Robbery that was reported to have occurred on Maplewood. Earlier this year the case was reopened and suspects were developed. As of last week, all three suspects in this case have been arrested, charged and arraigned on the charges listed below. This case was one of the cases recently featured on the TNT television series Cold Justice.

On 08/07/15 just before midnight, Flint Police responded to the 300 blk. E. Baltimore for a shooting. On scene, Edward Johnson Jr (28), was found to be deceased. There were several other injured persons as a result of this incident including one person that was critically injured.
Shautez Lawson (28) was arrested that night and has since been charged and arraigned for 1st Degree Murder, 3 counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Felony Firearm, and Discharge of Firearm into a Building.
Shonbria McMillian (20), mugshot unavailable, was later arrested in this case and has now been charged and arraigned for Lying to Police during a Violent Crime Investigation and Obstruction of Justice.

On 7/29/2015, members of the Flint Police Department in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Clayton Township Police Department and the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant on the south side of the City of Flint in support of an investigation being conducted by Clayton Township PD of a home invasion in their jurisdiction. Upon entry, officers detained a three-time convicted felon. The subsequent search of the residence produced 14 stolen firearms and a short barreled rifle. The subject being detained was arrested for multiple weapons related offenses and is expected to be arraigned in the coming days.To date, three people have been arrested in connection with this case. One will be charged in state court and two in federal court. There are still weapons from the original theft that have not been recovered. THIS JUST IN…


The "Stop the Silence" 3 on 3 basketball committee just announced that the make-up date for 2015 basketball tournament is September 26th! The tournament will move to Saginaw and 5th Ave.


Team registration begins on the morning of September 26th at 8 AM and closes at 9:30 AM.


Metals will be awarded to each member of the winning team in their bracket. A team (NBA quality) stop the silence basketball will be awarded to the winning team in each bracket (one per winning team).
Free T-shirts will be given to the first 50 teams that sign-up on the morning of the tournament.

Ages; 7 to 24 years old.
Cost; Pledge to stop the silence

The competitive 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be held on the same day and near the location (on the campus of the University Michigan – Flint) of the Flint Touch-A-Truck.

This tournament is presented by area law-enforcement in partnership with ELGA CU, Walmart, University of Michigan – Flint Student Government, Genesee Packing Company and many many other wonderful organizations and businesses.

On 07/21/15 Flint Police responded to the 3000 blk. N. Saginaw for a Breaking and Entering at a business. The owner reported that upon arriving to the store to open, he discovered that the business had been broken into while closed. Flint Police Officers viewed video surveillance of the incident and recognized the suspect in the video. A few moments later the suspect was seen walking in the area and was arrested. That suspect, Embra Middleton (20) has now been charged and arraigned for Breaking and Entering a Building. Great job Officer Hall!


On 7/18/15 Flint Police took a report of a Criminal Sexual Conduct that occurred in the 4300 blk. Western Rd. The investigation led to a suspect being arrested a couple of days later. That suspect, Randy Haddock (57), has now been charged and arraigned for 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct - Injury to Incapacitated Victim, 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct - Injury to Incapacitated Victim, 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct - Injury to Incapacitated Victim, and 4th Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct - Injury to Incapacitated Victim.

On 07/10/15 at approx. 10:20 pm Flint Police responded to the 2100 blk. Stedron for a shooting. On scene, two victims were located, one of which had been shot and was in critical condition. Several nearby vehicles were also struck by gunfire. The investigation led to the identification of a suspect who was later arrested. That suspect, Ricky Culberson Jr. (25), has now been charged and arraigned for two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Second Offense Felony Firearm, and 2 counts of Malicious Destruction of Personal Property.

Early this morning, Flint Police responded to an alarm at a business in the 800 blk. Welch. On scene, there was fresh damage of forced entry into the business. K9 Officer Edo was deployed into the business and located a suspect who was hiding inside. The suspect was arrested and lodged in jail. Charges are pending review by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office. Great job Edo and fellow Officers!

WANTED... On 06/12/15 members of the Genesee Auto-Theft Investigation Network (GAIN) attempted to make contact with a suspect in possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspect rammed an unmarked Sheriff's Department vehicle and led police on a pursuit. The suspect jumped from the moving stolen vehicle and escaped on foot while police had to stop the run away vehicle. Charges have been issue for the suspect, Ricky Crowl (33), and he is WANTED for Larceny, Unlawful Driving Away Motor Vehicle, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Malicious Destruction of Property and 3rd Degree Fleeing and Eluding.
