On Monday morning, 01/12/15 at around 1:30AM, Officer Hart-Smith and a Sergeant were dispatched to the 3800 block of S. Saginaw on a 911 call for help from a woman. The victim reported that she had been held captive after the suspect, a 34 year old male known to her, forced his way in her house, destroyed her property and sexually assaulted her. The victim later jumped out of a car to escape from the suspect. Officers were watching the area and observed the suspect trying to sneak back to the victim's location. When he saw police he fled and Officers chased him through the neighborhood where Officer Hart-Smith was able to stop the vehicle and took the suspect into custody. As it turned out, the suspect was already a wanted fugitive and was taken to the Flint City Jail on outstanding warrants and to await arraignment on new charges. Excellent job Officer Hart-Smith!
On Saturday 1/10/15 the Police Athletic League (PAL) boys 6th grade team competed in the FAAST Winter Blast basketball tournament at Swish Zone in Whitmore Lake, Mi. The team, coached by Officer Jesse Carpenter and Officer Terrell Weston, placed FIRST in the tournament. Congratulations to all!
