The City of Flint Police Department occasionally receives reports of criminal activity that is suspected by the investigator to be a false report. The motivation by people to make a false reports is frequently to cover up other criminal activity that they themselves have been involved in.The individuals making these false reports take valuable investigative time and resources away from legitimate victims. The Flint Police Department will charge individuals determined to be making a false reports with this agency, through the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office. We will highlight some of these prosecutions through this page.

On January 17th, 2015, Flint Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of South Saginaw Street for a shooting. Officers found Tarence Lard, a 19-year old male, laying in a parking lot with a gunshot wound in his leg. Lard reported that he was shot in a drive-by while walking through the lot. After a handgun was recovered at the scene, Lard was re-interviewed concerning the actual events leading to him being shot. Lard was charged and arraigned for “False Report of a Felony”, a felony charge punishable by up to 4 years in prison, a $2,000.00 fine, or both, and “Carrying a Concealed Weapon”, a felony charge punishable by up to 5 years in prison or a fine of $2,500.



This afternoon, at approx. 1:15pm, Flint Police received a call to the area of Fenton & 12th Street, for a Breaking and Entering of a residence in progress. A citizen in the area had heard breaking glass and observed a male crawling through a window into a home. Flint Police Officers Baldwin and Ross arrived on scene and observed the suspect jump from a rear window of the residence. Officers Baldwin and Ross began chasing the suspect on foot. A retired Genesee County Sheriff's Deputy was nearby and assisted in the chase. The officers caught the suspect and he was arrested and lodged in jail for Home Invasion and a misdemeanor warrant. Charges are pending review by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office. Great job everyone, Flint Police, citizens and retirees all working together!
On 07/27/10 Flint Police responded to the 1900 blk. Howard where a female, Rachel Hawkins, was found deceased in her bed. In the last two weeks, Clarence Outlaw III (32) was arrested, charged and arraigned in this case for 1st Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm.
