On 09/10/16 at approx. 11pm Flint Police responded to the 3000 blk. Stratford in Flint Township for a runaway. The child appeared malnourished and had items attached to his hands and feet believed to be used to restrain him. The child was transported to a local hospital and CPS was contacted. Flint Police arrested two adults in the 500 blk. Weller and another child in the home was released to the custody of CPS. Kayla Reed (27) and Daniel Perryman (39) have both been charged and arraigned in this case for Child Abuse 2nd Degree and Child Abuse 2nd Degree in Presence of Another Child.

A special events curfew will be in effect in the downtown Flint area beginning on Tuesday, August 16 through Saturday, August 20 at 6am. The special events curfew will be in effect each day from 6pm - 6am and requires that any one age 16 or under be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in the designated special event area. The designated area for this event, Back to the Bricks, is defined as the area bordered by I-69 on the south, Chavez on the east, Beach St on the west and 5th Ave on the north, including the business area on the north east corner of Saginaw and 5th Ave. (See attached map.)
We encourage families to attend the event together so that this year's Back to the Bricks can be a safe and enjoyable event for all.

Yesterday the Flint Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment complex on Flint's south side. Seeing the fire department arrive on scene, Isaiah (3 1/2 years old) suited up in his super hero outfit and offered his help. The Flint fire fighters appreciated his effort!

On 06/09/16 at approx. 8pm Flint Police responded to the 600 blk. W. Bundy for a shooting. On scene, Jacquee Gardner (19) was found to be deceased as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators assigned to this case received several tips from the community, including tips that were called into Crime Stoppers. As a result of the investigation, a suspect was arrested the next day. That suspect, Damien Turner (20) has now been charged and arraigned in this case for Open Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

We received this via private message early this morning and wanted to share it with the community. Officers building positive relationships with children and the community is a vital role for law enforcement and we love to hear about moments like this.

UPDATE... Joseph Booker (22), who was listed in critical condition after the incident described below, has died as a result of his injuries. The previous charges against Kenneth Brett (45) have been dismissed and he has now been charged and arraigned for Open Murder.

On 05/30/16 at approx. 2am Flint Police responded to the 3300 blk. Starkweather for a fight. An unresponsive victim who had been assaulted with a baseball bat was found on scene and transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. A suspect was arrested and that suspect, Kenneth Brett (45), has now been charged and arraigned in this case for Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder.

On 06/05/16 at approx. noon, Flint Police responded to the 5100 blk. Fenton for a commercial Robbery that had just occurred. On scene the cashier reported that a male, who indicated that he had a weapon, took cash from the register. A subject fitting the description of the suspect was spotted nearby in Burton, and with the assistance of the Burton Police Department, Burton MI, he was taken into custody and evidence was seized. Jason Rogers (33) has now been charged and arraigned in this case for Armed Robbery. 


On 05/31/16 at approx. 1:45am Flint Police responded to the 400 blk. E McClellan for shots fired. Upon arrival, a gunshot victim was located and transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. A suspect vehicle description was obtained and a short time later that vehicle was located in the 900 blk. Damon and arrests were made near that location. Bradford Johnson (27) has now been charged and arraigned in this case for Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

Three pizza delivery drivers report being robbed between 5/18/16 and 5/26/16 in the 2200 blk. W. Court St. After the third robbery occurred, possible suspects were developed and located. During the investigation evidence from robberies were seized and two suspects were arrested. Those suspects have now been charged and arraigned in this case for the following charges. Jabaree Broach (22) for three counts of Armed Robbery and three counts of Felony Firearm and Calvin Hare (22) for three counts of Armed Robbery and two counts of Felony Firearm.

On 05/08/16 at approx. 6:15am Flint Police responded to the 2600 blk. Trumbull for a stabbing. On scene, Chester Ward III was found to be deceased. A suspect was arrested later that day. That suspect, Mirah Evans (21), has now been charged and arraigned for Open Murder.

On 04/18/16 at approx. 5pm Flint Police responded to the area of Alexander and Dartmouth for a shooting. On scene an adult male was found to have multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The investigation led to the arrest of a suspect, Kenneth Glover (60), who has now been charged and arraigned in this case for Assault with Intent to Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

On 04/19/16 at approx. 9:30pm Flint Police responded to the 2600 blk. Ridgecrest for a shooting. Two victims, Sasha Bell (19) and Sacorya Reed (19), were found deceased inside an apartment along with a 1 year old child who was not injured. The following day, a suspect was arrested by Flint Police and the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team. That suspect, Malek Thornton (18), has now been charged and arraigned in this case for two counts of 1st Degree Murder, two counts of Open Murder and Felony Firearm.

On 04/17/16 at approx. 7:30pm Flint Police responded to the 1900 blk. Greenbrook Lane for a shooting. Two victims, an adult woman and her 9 year old son, were innocent bystanders walking in the area when they were shot. The victims went to a local hospital where they were found to be in good condition. A suspect has now been charged and arraigned in this case. Martin Depew Jr (18) has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Firearm Discharge from a Vehicle, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm. A second suspect is also in custody and charges are pending review by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office.

On 4/13/16, at approx. 9:30am Flint Police responded to the 2000 blk. Branch for a Burglary in progress. Undercover state officers first arrived in the area and arrested a suspect. A second suspect was spotted and a foot chase ensued. Flint Police Officers Essix and Seltzer arrived on scene and joined in the pursuit, ultimately capturing and arresting the second suspect. A Michigan State Police K9 arrived on scene and was able to successfully track to a location where items stolen from the home were recovered and returned to the home owner. Charges for these two subjects are pending review by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office. Great job to all Officers involved and thank you to the alert citizen who reported this crime in progress!

On 03/13/16 Flint Police responded to a local hospital regarding a Criminal Sexual Conduct report. The investigation led to the arrest of a suspect, Timothy Cahaney (39), who has now been charged and arraigned for Kidnapping, 7 counts of 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct (Multiple Variables) and Assault by Strangulation.

On 02/29/16 at approx. 3pm Flint Police responded to the 2000 blk. Barks for a report of a suicide. On scene, Linda Douglas (61), was found to be deceased as the result of a gunshot wound. The investigation led to a subject being arrested that same day. That subject, Demetrius Douglas (26) who is the victim's son, has now been charged and arraigned for 1st Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.

UPDATE... The subject arrested in the incident described below, Eric Henley (33), has now been charged and arraigned for Armed Robbery.


Previous Post Narrative...
On 02/22/16 at approx. 7:15pm a woman reported that she was approached by a male subject in a parking lot near Fenton and Atherton Rd. The male subject assaulted the woman and demanded money. The woman sprayed the male with a mace type product, he then took her purse and ran from the scene. Two men, Richard Newman and another gentleman were nearby, heard the woman screaming for help and observed the male subject running away with a purse. Mr. Newman and the other gentleman ran after the subject and tackled him to the ground. After a brief struggle they were able to take the purse away from the subject who then ran off again. A Flint Police Special Operations Officer responding to the 911 call observed the subject as he was running from the scene and arrested him. The good Samaritans returned the purse to the woman who was not injured. The male subject was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries then lodged in jail. Charges are pending review by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office.

The Flint Police Department would like to recognize the quick, heroic actions taken by Richard Newman and the other gentleman whose good deeds assisted in the apprehension of this subject and the return of the woman's belongings. Fortunately, this case had a positive ending, but we would like to caution citizens about intervening in situations that could have a negative, possibly violent result. Safety first!

REWARD... Jeffrey Kryger (31) AKA "Ocean" and Allyson Ochodnicky (25) are WANTED for Manufacturing Methamphetamine. These two subjects are possibly on the run together. UPDATE... A Genesee County Sheriff's Deputy recognized a subject seen in surveillance photographs and notified Flint Police. Follow up investigation resulted in charges being issued for that subject, Amenra Wynn (34), who has now been arraigned for Armed Robbery, Carjacking and Home Invasion 1st Degree.
Previous post narrative...
On 11/2/15 a 62 year old woman was in her home along with her elderly mother when a black male subject described as approx. 30 years old, 5'8". 140-150 lbs., entered the home and assaulted and robbed the women. A witness described suspects that were seen in front of the home as persons that were regularly seen walking in the Corunna and Ballenger area neighborhood. Surveillance images of these persons of interest were obtained from a nearby business showing the males wearing distinctive clothing. On 02/19/16 at approx. 2:30pm Flint Police responded to the 2100 blk. W. Home for a shooting. On scene, a 14 year old victim was located and transported to the hospital. The victim was listed in critical condition at that time and remains in critical condition today. Within a few hours of the shooting a suspect was arrested. The suspect and the victim are brothers. The suspect, Willie Allen (17) has now been charged and arraigned for Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearm.

On 02/21/16 a woman reported to Flint Police that she had been attacked in her home by an acquaintance. The investigation led to a subject being arrested the next day. That subject, Marlon Burns (47), has now been charged and arraigned for eight counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree (Personal Injury) and 1 count of Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd Degree (Personal Injury).

On 02/22/16 Flint Police held a graduation ceremony for the newest members of our Police Chaplin Corp. Earlier today members of the Prospect Heights Police Department (Illinois) delivered 80 cases of water to the Flint Police Department. On Saturday,Port Huron Police Department delivered 30 cases of water to our department. Our Officers are very appreciative of all the support we have received from departments across the state and country. On behalf of everyone at the Flint Police Department, we thank you!

On 2/5/16 at approx. 2:30 pm Officer Hughley, a Flint Police School Resource Officer, was approached by a 16 year old student outside of Northwestern High School. The student reported that he had just been robbed of his cell phone while walking home from school. Ofc. Hughley immediatley began checking the area for the suspects and located an adult and a juvenile subject. The victim's phone was recovered from the juvenile subject and both were arrested. The adult, Jermaine Snowden (18), has been charged and arraigned for Unarmed Robbery. A petition has been submitted for review by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office for charges against the juvenile suspect.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department, which is located north of Chicago, have been collecting donated cases of water from their community for the Flint Police and Fire Departments. Members of their department volunteered their time and delivered more that 1000 cases of water in three semi trucks to the Flint Police Department today. Use of the trucks and drivers were made possible by Graebel Van Lines of Buffalo Grove, Hillside Towing of Arlington Heights and A Express Towing of Palatine, all from Illinois. The Flint Police Department is very appreciative of this generous donation from the Buffalo Grove community, spearheaded by the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Thank you!

On 12/26/15 Flint Police responded to a business in the 1700 blk. S. Saginaw for a Burglary report. There was vandalism in several locations inside the business and cash missing. The surveillance system shows two subjects had entered the business. These images are of one of those subjects. The second subject's face was covered. In July 2014 Flint Police began investigating a Criminal Sexual Conduct case involving a child victim. As the investigation progressed four victims were identified. Paul Miller (64) of Flint was arrested and charged in this case in October 2014. A jury trial was held in December 2014 and Miller was found guilty of 20 felony counts all related to Criminal Sexual Conduct. Miller was sentenced on 01/25/16 in Judge Fullerton’s courtroom to 25-45 years.

R.A.D. for Men... Resisting Aggression with Defense for Men is a FREE comprehensive course available to men in the local community.
Designed to raise awareness of the impact of aggressive behavior, recognize how aggressive behavior impacts participants lives, encourage participants to take steps to avoid aggressive behavior and to look at how individuals can be part of reducing aggression and violence. Each participant will explore resisting aggression while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. Participants will have the opportunity to use techniques in simulated attacks while wearing protective gear. Classes are taught by certified RAD instructors from UM-Flint Police.
