The Flint Police Department is proud to once again participate in the Flint Area Touch a Truck event. The event will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 11am - 3pm at the White Lot on the UofM Flint campus (corner of Saginaw and 5th Ave). There will be lots of cool trucks, police vehicles and a helicopter or two for kids of all ages to see. There will also be bounce houses, face painting, food, music, a child ID kit booth and more. On 9/24/98, 14 year old Coral Hall was reported as a runaway by her grandmother and legal guardian, Lois Janish. Over the course of the next eight years, several persons were interviewed and information was developed that people close to Coral suspected that she was not a runaway and possibly a victim of foul play. The police department conducted multiple interviews with Janish, each time she told a different version of the events surrounding the disappearance of Coral. The Flint Police Department conducted the first of six unsuccessful searches for Coral's remains in the summer of 2011. In the summer of 2013, enough evidence was collected to issue an arrest warrant for Lois Janish. She was arrested on July 31, 2013. Yesterday, Janish pled No Contest to Second Degree Murder in Michigan's 07th Circuit Court before Judge Farah. She is scheduled to be sentenced in early November, 2015. Coral's remains have not been recovered. Two subjects have been charged and arraigned for the murder of Antieno Smith (46) which occurred in the 1100 blk. Ave A on 09/01/15. Mark Jones (44) has been charged and arraigned in this case for 1st Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Discharge of Firearm from a Vehicle Causing Death, Discharge of Firearm in or at a Building, Tampering with Evidence in a Criminal Case, 3rd Degree Fleeing Police Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm. Brian Dickerson (49) has been charged and arraigned in this case for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.

Yesterday the Flint Police Department received an oil painting of our K9 Edo from Joyce Schwartz. Ms. Schwartz stated that she painted this "in appreciation for all that you do". Thank you Ms. Schwartz for the beautiful painting of Edo. The painting will be displayed in our lobby.

On 08/11/15 at approx. 1am Flint Police responded to the 2200 blk. Devon Lane for a shooting. The victim, Jarrett Kent (26), had been shot multiple times and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Charges have been issued for 3 people as a result of this investigation.

Deshawn Tiggs (20) has been arrested, charged and arraigned in this case for 1st Degree Murder and Felony Firearm. He was also charged and arraigned in 2 other cases. Those charges were 1st Degree Home Invasion, 2 counts of Felonious Assault and Armed Robbery, Assault with Intent to Murder, Felony Firearm.

Jamarr McKenzie (23) has been arrested, charged and arraigned in this case for Lying to a Peace Officer - Violent Crime Investigation.

On 12/23/12 Flint Police took a report of a CSC/Robbery that was reported to have occurred on Maplewood. Earlier this year the case was reopened and suspects were developed. As of last week, all three suspects in this case have been arrested, charged and arraigned on the charges listed below. This case was one of the cases recently featured on the TNT television series Cold Justice.

Andrew Turner (27) for Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree (During Felony), Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm. Davee Cooper (27) for Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felony Firearm. Noah Biddis (32) for Armed Robbery, Carjacking and Felony Firearm.

On 08/07/15 just before midnight, Flint Police responded to the 300 blk. E. Baltimore for a shooting. On scene, Edward Johnson Jr (28), was found to be deceased. There were several other injured persons as a result of this incident including one person that was critically injured.

Shautez Lawson (28) was arrested that night and has since been charged and arraigned for 1st Degree Murder, 3 counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Felony Firearm, and Discharge of Firearm into a Building.

Shonbria McMillian (20), mugshot unavailable, was later arrested in this case and has now been charged and arraigned for Lying to Police during a Violent Crime Investigation and Obstruction of Justice.
